Daughters of Hemadryas

Sarasota Mural _ Daughter of Hamadryas _ Wide Angle with Apollo _ 14MB.jpg

Public Works Project, Dimensions 15’x60’, Location 1526 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34236, Commissioned 2020

This new work was created with Paint Sarasota with Love, a partnership between the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County and the City of Sarasota as part of the City’s Pandemic Recovery Plan. "Together we will commission multiple murals throughout the city to convey the circumstances of our times and create positive and healing energy within the community."

Mythologies operate in an individual’s mind and societies alike; they depict self-image, cross-cultural views and create potent tensions of changing societies and history. My paintings mix traditional portrait and landscape compositions with new-age color palettes - inspired by the technological revolution. This work engages in a conversation about digital and intrapersonal relationships while revisiting traditional feminine tropes. Daughters of Hamadryas is strikingly feminine paralleling my personal undertakings in Sarasota.
